Resource Center offers non-paid internships through its volunteer program. Intern positions are available throughout the year depending on your area of focus and our needs. We accept internships that are part of a curriculum requirement with a project outline supervised by an instructor and staff member.
To fulfill an internship position you must submit a resume with an outline plan for a specific project. There is a minimum requirement of 16-hours per week for 10 weeks. Resumes are accepted two months prior to your start date. Submit your internship application via email to email@example.com.
Attending volunteer orientation training is required before starting your internship. Volunteer orientation classes are held monthly.
Embrey Human Rights Program at SMU
Resource Center offers internships for students in SMU’s Embrey Human Rights Program. Intern positions are available throughout the year, depending on the student’s area of academic focus and the Center’s needs. Internship applications must be part of a curriculum requirement and have a project outline to be supervised by a faculty member and Center staffer. There is a minimum requirement of 16 hours a week for 10 weeks. Successful past projects have included: researching anti-bullying and nondiscrimination policies in public schools across North Texas, and comparing and contrasting partner benefits offered by governmental bodies in several states.

Interns may also be needed to assist with specific Center programs and events in departments that may include Youth First, advocacy & development among others. Resumes are accepted prior to the start date, with some flexibility in certain instances. Attending volunteer orientation is required prior to starting the internship. Resource Center is a trusted leader that empowers the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities and all people affected by HIV through improving health and wellness, strengthening families and communities and providing transformative education and advocacy. Past Center interns have used the advocacy and research skills they honed to go to law school and obtain graduate degrees in education.

Outreach Coordinator position available for Resource Center’s Youth First program. This position is responsible for in-person outreach to schools, youth organizations, mental health clinicians and other youth-serving professionals.
Full-time position available for a responsible, self-motivated and outgoing individual to join Resource Center’s HIV prevention team. Responsibilities include conducting HIV, syphilis and sexually transmitted infections testing and prevention activities focusing on gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men in a clinic and outreach setting; educating men who have sex with men and other community members about HIV/STI prevention; actively recruiting and developing volunteers; participating in a condom distribution campaign; and performing administrative and other duties. Additional responsibilities include assisting senior navigator identifying eligible PrEP Care Program candidates, engaging in conversations about the program, and providing PrEP testing.
