Resource Center Dallas is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the GLBT and HIV/AIDS communities.While the Center employs paid staff, the mission of the Center could not be achieved without its volunteers - comprised of people like you.
The talents, skills, time, and energy donated by volunteers are a valued resource. Whether it is answering phones, entering computer data, designing a brochure, or serving meals, volunteers enable the Center to provide superior service to the community. There are various opportunities depending on your availability. You choose an area that best fits your schedule and get started.

COMMUNITY GROUPS, SCHOOLS, AND BUSINESS VOLUNTEERS
Resource Center Dallas has an established volunteer program which successfully collaborates with various community groups and businesses throughout the year.If your organization, business or school is interested in a volunteer project, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 214-528-0144 or email dcavazos@rcdallas.org.
The Center will work with your group to organize a project and provide a group orientation.The Volunteer Coordinator can arrange a date, time, and the number of volunteers you will be providing.The Center looks forward to seeing you here.
CORPORATE GROUP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Take a break from the usual routine get out of the office and give back to your community. Volunteering for one day events has become a favorite team building exercise in the corporate world for companies big and small. People who work well together as a team are one of the most valuable assets any employer can have. This is a sure way for your organization to improve communication and camaraderie on all corporate levels. The satisfaction that comes from helping others will leave your group, humbled, inspired and motivated.

COURT APPOINTED COMMUNITY SERVICE
If you have been assigned community service hours by the court system or expect to be assigned hours at a future date and wish to fulfill those required hours at Resource Center Dallas, there are some special instructions you need to follow. These rules apply to all persons doing their community service work through the Volunteer Center of Dallas, the Day Reporting Center of Dallas, the County of Denton or on the advice of your attorney.

Be sure the Resource Center Dallas and its programs are approved by the volunteer agency and supervisor for your case. In most cases, the agency must refer you to the Center for community service first.
- Your casework supervisor will call to verify volunteer hours on a regular basis. Be aware that you may be required to complete a set number of hours during each reporting period.
- Hours spent at the Center’s training classes (i.e., Community Service Orientation, Diversity 101 or HIV/AIDS 101) count toward your community service work. To have these hours count, you will need to get your time card signed by the instructor and sign in on the volunteer log before you leave the class.
- You may choose volunteer activities only from the list of activities the Center provides you for credit.
- All community service must be done on-site. Any hours done off location do not count towards required hours.
- The Center cannot guarantee it will have activities that will fit your personal schedule or other needs. In particular, agency labor needs for the weekend and evening hours are limited.

If you cannot make your scheduled shift, please notify appropriate staff member.
Resource Center Dallas will make a reasonable effort to accommodate Community Service volunteers by providing adequate training, program opportunities, and computer hours tracking for those who enter the program. Resource Center Dallas, its staff or volunteers are not obligated to create special accommodations for individuals who do not follow the instructions of the program, or those who do not allow reasonable time to complete their hours. Resource Center Dallas reserves the right to refuse any Community Service applicant. Resource Center Dallas reserves the right to dismiss any Community Service volunteer in the case of inappropriate behavior or infractions of agency policy. Resource Center Dallas assumes no responsibility for outcome of the Community Service sentence of any person.
