Internship Opportunities

Would you like to be part of a dynamic team at one of the country’s largest LGBT community centers?  Summer internships are available at Resource Center Dallas.  We work with your university to provide you with a rewarding experience that meets the criteria of your university. 

Some of the projects that interns have worked on are research for both health and medical issues and programming for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.  Interns have helped create and implement marketing strategies for community center programs, organized grassroots responses and education initiatives regarding LGBT issues, networked with local and national organizations, spearheaded volunteer groups in program areas, created educational and training collateral, worked directly with clients, assisted development department in research and special events and much more. 

Qualities of an intern include: self-motivated, competent in Microsoft Word and Excel, strong communication skills, ability to interact professionally with staff and volunteers, flexible in arranging priorities, strong time-management skills and dedication to meeting deadlines.

Resource Center Dallas can tailor your intern experience to fit the research and learning needs of your university.  Intern opportunities are not compensated by Resource Center Dallas; however, fellowships and stipends are available through third parties. 

From a past intern:
As someone who was in the closet when I started at the Center, I learned a great deal about what it means to live out in the Dallas Metroplex from the people I worked with and the resources that I helped gather information on. The people I met were incredibly supportive of my goals and gave me advice, both professionally and personally. Working for a summer at Resource Center Dallas was one of the most fulfilling adventures I have had so far.
